“I think this will be the most important project of this era,” Altman said on Tuesday. “We wouldn’t be able to do this without you, Mr. President.”

Yesterday, after I had just finished an early dinner and was settling in for a sit by the fire, President Donald Trump announced a major artificial intelligence initiative called "STARGATE" at the White House. Mind you, this is toward the end of his second day of office and he’s looking as well rested as anyone else. Honestly, I have no idea where this man gets his energy. I’ve been drinking Diet Coke for over 30 years, and I’m losing steam, but Trump only gets more energized. It’s crazy. Anyhow…
The STARGATE Project is an ambitious initiative aimed at enhancing the United States' leadership in artificial intelligence (AI) through significant investment in AI infrastructure. From the offset, I want to be clear that this announcement isn’t robust on specific details. I looked at it as more of an “introduction” to the concept of the initiative - something to get Americans familiar with. I mean, I wish more detail had been given, considering the extreme influence and power of the gentlemen standing on the stage. Not to mention the power of AI in general. I’ve long said that I think AI is the most dangerous creation since the internet - no one completely understands the true capabilities of the creation, and once it’s been set loose, it’s hard to see how it can be bottled up again. Does that make sense?
