Good morning, friends.

Over the weekend, we had a final concert for one of our daughters, where she sang and played her violin beautifully, a dinner afterward, church the next morning, and then hosted several couples from the church for lunch. The girls had a friend who spent the night, and so a big breakfast was in order yesterday, and then, of course, the usual “get to your schoolwork” and “please fold the dirty clothes in the wash” followed. Needless to say, I was busy doing life things and jumping back into the news has not exactly been something I have felt thrilled to do. Especially when, as many of you have also been feeling, the news is anything but joyful.

The war in Iran seems to have no natural (or even eventual) conclusion in sight (BTW, there’s a press conference this morning at the Pentagon regarding it, and at 1 pm this afternoon, Secretary Rubio is taking the podium to replace Karoline Leavitt at a WH presser). Culture is replete with images from galas and gatherings that make me convinced that the point is to destroy beauty altogether, and each “side of the aisle” seems hell-bent on mutual destruction. It’s a lot.

This is, once again, a moment where I wonder how people survive without faith and trust in the Almighty. Knowing the Lord has ultimate control over an out-of-control planet (and its people) gives me daily confidence that we must soldier on in the fear of God…enjoying His creation, our families, and His Word. The beauty He has given us through His love is what sustains us when the world feels upside down. In fact, it’s overflowing with goodness.
