Kodak Warns of Potential Shutdown as Debt Overwhelms
Eastman Kodak, the iconic U.S. photography company founded in 1888, signaled Tuesday it may close due to insurmountable debt. Known for democratizing photography with its first camera (pictured above) and the slogan “You push the button, we do the rest,” Kodak was a symbol of innovation, (even featured in Bram Stoker’s 1897 Dracula!) Despite restructuring $6 billion in debt following its 2012 bankruptcy, the company still owes $500 million and reported insufficient liquidity in its latest earnings. (Am I the only one who feels a bit sad after hearing this bit of news?)
